Discovering Your Passionate Purpose

Passion will always move you in the direction of your authentic self. ~Danielle LaPorte

925419 - EAT PRAY LOVE

Finding your purpose in life has become an almost desperate act of survival in this falling – apart – financially broken – world that is becoming more of a new age – positive thought trailing – affirmational – lifestyle where everyday more and more people are saying f**k it to conventional thoughts and lifestyles.

In my opinion, finding your life purpose by ‘going within’ (otherwise known as meditating or listening to your own inner H.I.N.G.E ~ Higher Intuitive Nurturing Guiding Expression) and being your own inner guru has replaced the once well known trek across India to visit Guru’s in their ashrams (cue the trailer of Eat, Pray, Love) to discover yourself.

Now we’re being told that real spiritual strength and oneness lies in ‘finding yourself by looking in a mirror’ and to a certain extent, I agree. But what if looking at yourself doesn’t float your boat? What if you already know yourself but are unsure how to manifest your Self into the World around you? So I would say; Find yourself by looking in the mirror … if that’s what YOU feel will benefit you.

We are majorly forgetting to key in personal choice – personal preference. Heck we are majorly skipping the point of being our own inner guru! Take back your power Sister! Stand up for yourself Brother! Stop relying so much on what others tell you that you should be doing – do what fills your soul with passion – burning bright, shiny, unstoppable passion.

There is only so many times one can stomach having themselves walked upon by muddy boots before one stands up and declares; WELCOME – NO MORE!! ~ Dawn Brierley

So what is your passion? What is your life purpose? Do you know?

Well if not, you better get the matches out their box and see what light’s the flame! ‘Cause I’m sure as hell not going to sit here and tell you what to do with your life. This is your life! Live life as you want to! No one ever gave me a 100% concrete answer on what my life purpose is. No aura reader, psychic or astrologist correctly predicted my life purpose and career. Sure they all had a similarity in what they said – that I was destined to help people – but that doesn’t tell you “Dawn, you’re going to be a Life Coach!” does it? No! I had to discover that myself by living and learning about my passions.

At first I became passionate about accounting and finance – something that very much still gets my bonfire lit. Then a psychic influenced reading gave me a fresh perspective and interest in psychology, again something that has benefited me in my current career and life purpose. Then I tried my hand at teaching which is fun and helped me overcome my fear of speaking to 30 or so people (be they children) in a room.

Now I’ve found my passion – Helping others improve their lives!

I’m a sucker for making other people happy. Coaching others has been my one sure way of making myself happy too.

Exercise Time – No heavy lifting involved!

So grab a pen and paper – let’s be old school here, pen and paper never did me any harm and I’m 24 and very much functionable in society (I think!) No Fancy i-gadgets for this – I’m hardcore old school! 🙂 In fact this feature was written on a pad of paper with a pen at 12:30am this morning!

So as I was saying, grab that pen and paper and write down two lists.

The first list of everything you really wish you never had to do again – things that put your fire out quicker than a hose pipe over a bucket of flames! Everything goes here in these lists so don’t hold back, don’t get shy on me now!

The second list – write all the things that ignite passion within your very core. If you get excited, happy, enthusiastic, – you know that child like belief of ‘WOW…It’d be sooooo cool if I could do that!’ – write it down!

Now go through your list and choose 3 top passion igniting things on your list. Find them. Go on hunt through that list to find them. If you could only choose 3 things what would they be? What would make you live without ANY regrets?

And there you have it… go ahead circle those 3 things….

Say hello ladies and gentlemen to YOUR PASSIONATE PURPOSE guidelines!

Your Life Purpose involves those 3 things… so now get your thinking caps on and think what you can do to include ALL 3 things in your daily life at work and play! Then you are living your life purpose.

Let me know what 3 things you hunted down in the comments at the top of this post (if you’re reading from the home page) and at the bottom (if you’ve linked up to this post only)

Being a multi-creative, heathen witch, and making a living from it, is what I’m aiming for. Part of that is life coaching, part writing, part herbalism, part witchcraft, part crafts, and part art.

  2. I’ve always wanted to help people figure out what to do with their lives. A few years ago, I decided that the best thing to do is to get out from under the thumbs of anyone else and have a business, so now I work mostly with small business owners. Love it!

Loved this post and pinned it. I have a huge list of stuff I don’t want to do. And just like every time I do this exercise I come right back to wanting to teach/share my knowledge to help others succeed – still working on the HOW to do that 🙂

On my list, I starred “Be my most authentic self”, “Hear Thank You” and “Make money in my sleep”. When these three things are happening for me all day, I am living my passion. 🙂 Thanks for the sweat-free exercise.

  5. Emily says:

My three things would be helping other people be successful in life, financial abundance, and spending true quality time with my children.

  6. Nicole Breit says:

Mine are helping other people, writing, and creative problem solving — a mix that together brings enough joy to others and abundance my way that I can work less and enjoy everything, especially my two kids, more 🙂 I’m workin’ on it!
